Helvetica is 50 years old, New York exhibition

helvetica

Did you know that Helvetica font is 50 years old? 50 years - no more, no less!
New York is hosting a new exhibition dedicated to this great (or ordinary?) event. The event is great because Helvetica font is widely used everywhere - including on streetsigns. The event is also ordinary because everyone's used to Helvetica and would hardly even recognize it.
However, on April 6th the film "Helvetica" was shown to visitors of this exhibition. Those who failed to purchase the tickets (which were sold within 48 hours) stood in line for 1 hour, hoping to get in!
Michael Surtees, who posted the above photo to NoComment News group on Flickr, dicusses the film and the whole event in his blog
Have you happened to visit this exhibition? Please post your photos, designer folks outside NY would love to see them.
